PONDA: The officials of Excise Department seized 57 litres of liquor, which was illegally transported from Goa to Dharwad, at the Anmod check-post on early Saturday morning. The total value of the seized liquor and the vehicle is Rs 13.15 lakh.
According to Excise officials, the vehicle belongs to one Shivanand Metti, a native of Dharwad and who had arrived in Goa with rice bags. After delivering the rice bags, Metti was returning to Karnataka and was transporting liquor illegally.
The Excise officials stopped the vehicle at the Anmod check-post and seized the liquor. They also arrested Metti for further investigations.
