A controversial online poster advertising a four-day event titled ‘Tales of Kamasutra & Christmas Celebration’ — detailing explicit activities — has sparked concern and outrage across Goa, with several NGOs urging the police to verify the organisers’ credentials and take immediate action for allegedly promoting commercial sexual activity.
According to the WhatsApp advertisement/poster, the event is being organised by the ‘Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh Foundation’ and is scheduled to take place in Arambol from December 25 to 28.

Manjit Singh of the Osho Ludhiana Meditation Society, while confirming that they are organising the controversial “Tales of Kamasutra & Christmas Celebration” in Goa, clarified that the event is purely oriented towards meditation and not promoting ‘open sex’ as feared by local NGOs.
Singh said, “The word Kamasutra has nothing to do with open sex. It is purely a meditation event. We had conducted two similar events in Goa in March and September this year and its photographs are uploaded on Instagram. People from respected families are attending it. We are not doing any bad work.
Pandey said that when they dialled the mobile number listed on the poster, the person who answered asked them to make an online payment before joining a group.
Pandey alleged: “Action should be taken because it is bringing a bad name to Goa and promoting commercial sexual activity. We expect some action against the organiser and the advertiser. He added that the same organisers had conducted a similar event in Goa in September 2025. Copies of Arz’s letter have been sent to the IGP and the DGP. Given the sensitive content and the possibility of activities violating laws related to obscenity, exploitation, trafficking or unauthorised events, Pandey said a thorough investigation was necessary.
SP (Crime Branch) Rahul Gupta, IPS, told O Heraldo, “We are enquiring about it. I have asked for details.”
When O Heraldo contacted the phone number on the poster, the person identifying himself as Manjit Singh confirmed that they were planning to hold the four-day programme in Arambol.
NGO Bailancho Ekvott president Auda Viegas has also demanded immediate police action.
“It is a sick thought and needs to be nipped in the bud as it is promoting sex and trafficking, traffickers and projecting a disgusting picture of a divine celebration,” she alleged.
“Goa is deliberately being forced into Osho-type celebrations, luring tourists to Goa. Under the pretext of celebrating Christmas, a solemn and a family celebration of the birth of Christ, the organisers are taking the focus away from worship and prayers,” she added.
The poster describes Swami DhyanSumit as the programme facilitator and founder of the Osho Ludhiana Meditation Society. However, online checks did not conclusively establish any direct link between him and the Pune-headquartered Osho International Foundation. The Arambol event also does not appear among the Goa programmes listed on the Osho Foundation’s official website.
Meanwhile, the Goa Women’s Forum (GWF) has urged the Department of Tourism to take immediate action, warning that such events portray the State as a sex tourism destination. In a letter to Director of Tourism Kedar Naik, the Forum said it “strongly condemns” the promotion of the event, stating that the material circulated online suggests activities “completely unacceptable” and incompatible with Goa’s identity as a family-friendly destination.
The GWF has sought urgent intervention by filing an FIR and launching a full investigation into the organisers operating under the name Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh Foundation. It has also asked authorities to identify the proposed venue and verify the ₹24,995 fee being collected for “stay and food”.
Copies of the GWF letter have been sent to the Chief Secretary, district collectors, district superintendents of police and the chairperson of the Goa State Commission for Women. GWF convenor Lorna Fernandes said the Forum expects immediate action to prevent Goa from being projected in this manner.
