MARGAO: Reshma Sayed who was a member of the Mahila Congress for the last 18 years and also served as its Secretary on Wednesday joined the BJP and has extended her support to the BJP candidate Zico Fernandes in the Margao miniciapal polls.

Incidentally Reshma was an independent candidate from ward 3 where the Fatorda Block Congress has fielded Fatima Barretto as its candidate. Not giving the ticket to Reshma was one of the reasons apparently to resigne from the party on April 19.
Thirty youngsters led by Memboob Ali Rehman who had resigned from the Youth Congress on April 19 2021 too joined the BJP which in turn reconstituted its Yuva Mandal or youth wing.
Sulemaan Khan who had resigned at the Fatorda Youth Congress President is now appointed the Fatorda Yuva Mandal president and a new Yuva Mandal committee consisting of 41 members has been constituted.
In another development, a staunch Goa Forward Party worker, Angelo Furtado who was a candidate earlier in ward 5 also joined the BJP.
Deputy Chief Minister Manohar alias Babu Ajgaonkar and Damu Naik were present when the new members were admitted in the party.
