PANJIM: Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat on Monday claimed that in future no Congress MLA will dare to switch sides fearing public wrath and if destined, he will once again become the Chief Minister.
Speaking to reporters, Kamat said, “As per our reports Congress will be able to form the next government with support from its alliance partner Goa Forward Party. Let there be any speculations. I am not bothered because becoming Chief Minister is not my ultimate goal. If God wants I will be in (CM) position and if God doesn’t want I will not become Chief Minister. If it is written on my forehead I will become Chief Minister and nobody can wipe it out.”

Kamat said in future no party MLA will dare to defect to other political party. He said, “During my interaction with professionals like doctors, engineers and chartered accountants, they were all of the opinion that defections have to stop. Today or tomorrow it should stop and those who don’t agree to stop it, people will teach them a lesson.”
The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar said the executive meeting resolved to challenge the order of the Goa Bench of the High Court of Bombay dismissing writ petition seeking disqualification of 10 MLAs, who had joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in July 2019, since the verdict had attacked the election process.
