MARGAO: The mortal remains of PWD Executive Engineer, Pravin Fatarpekar were consigned to flames at the Margao crematorium on Sunday morning.
Senior officers of the Public Works Department led by Principal Chief Engineer, Borkar, MLAs Reginaldo Lourenco, Vijai Sardesdai, Subhash Faldesai, Digambar Kamat, former MLA Damu Naik, Margao Municipal Councillors and people from all walks of life paid respect to the departed PWD engineer, even as question remains unanswered on the circumstances that prompted Fatarpekar to end his life by committing suicide.
When the media contacted Margao police to ask them to shed some light on the death of the executive engineer, they maintained that there’s no complaint received from any quarter stating any foul play in the death. “We have not received any complaint so far.  There’s no complaint received from family members of the deceased or from any other quarter,” informed a senior police officer, adding that the police would register an FIR if a complaint is lodged at the police station.
Sources in the know said that the PWD Minister Sudin Dhavlikar is believed to have taken cognisance of the suicidal committed by the department’s executive engineer and is expected to  call for relevant details from the department on Fatarpekar’s demise.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai had on Saturday demanded a thorough probe into the suicidal death to find out whether any harassment was meted out to Fatarpekar by the department or other departments.
