MARGAO :?The Margao police has formally arrested the waiter from a city-hotel-cum-restaurant in connection with the fire incident at Nizami’s family shoppe.
Margao PI Santosh Desai said that the 52-year-old native of Mumbai has been arrested for committing mischief by fire with the help of a candle.
During interrogation, he said the accused has allegedly confessed having put fire to the readymade garment shop. The exact motive behind setting the shop on fire is being ascertained, he said.
The Margao police are investigating the case, especially in the light of requests received from the fire services to investigate whether the recent fire accidents were as a result of sabotage, arson or otherwise.
