The Goa government on an average spends a steep Rs 2 crore annually on foreign trips and paltry Rs 3 crore on price control, leader of opposition Manohar Parrikar told the Goa legislative assembly.
Pointing to the austerity measures taken by the Digamabar Kamat government, Parrikar said, the state spends Rs seven lakhs per month only on Delhi trips.
“At a time of recession when the world is cutting cost the state is spending Rs 2 crore average only on foreign trips,” he said.
“The protocol department spent Rs 7 lakh every month only on Delhi trips,” he said.
Even the IAS officers spend Rs 2.5 lakh per month on air travels, he said.
He further said that while the state spends only 3 crores on the price control scheme which is supposed to benefit the aam admi, it spends 3 crores on travel, he stated. “There are no austerity measures,” he said.
Further, he said, 26 per cent of the time in the year chief minister Digambar Kamat is out of station.
“While 26 pc time CM is not there, 40 per cent of the time ministers are out of state,” he said adding “I wonder how the government functions.”
