Former ESG Member Slams IFFI 2025 Rules for ‘Contradicting’ Goa’s Film Promotion Claims

Former Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) member Vishal Pai Cacode has criticised the organisation for what he calls a fresh contradiction in its policies. He pointed out that Clause 9 of the Rules for the Goan Section at IFFI 2025 effectively prevents Goan filmmakers from availing benefits under the Goa Film Finance Scheme.

According to Cacode, the regulation undermines Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant’s repeated assurances that the government is committed to promoting Konkani cinema. “ESG is caught in its own contradictions again,” he said, questioning whether such rules amount to “promotion discrimination” against local filmmakers.
