MARGAO: The government on Sunday laid the foundation for the proposed water supply scheme costing Rs 25 crore in Ambelim village, which is expected to tide over the drinking water problems faced by the villages of Velim and Ambelim.
On the occasion, Water Resources Minister Dayanand Mandrekar said the development of the Sapu Tollem at a cost of Rs 4 crore would ultimately help the farmers as well as the villagers from both Velim and Ambelim. He said that projects worth Rs 5.5 crore are in the pipeline in Velim constituency and will be soon executed by the WRD in the near future, while promising his full support to usher in the development of Velim constituency.
Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado urged the people to strengthen the hands of the local MLA in the development process. He pointed out that MLA Benjamin D’Silva has been working overtime to bring about progress and development of the constituency.
Velim MLA Benjamin D’Silva said that the development of the Sapu Tollem would help the farming community.
