Four-wheeler catches fire at Mandovi Bridge; No casualties reported

A harrowing incident unfolded on Monday evening as a four-wheeler Omni van burst into flames on Mandovi Bridge. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.

The Porvorim fire department swiftly responded to the emergency, extinguishing the fire upon receiving a call around 10:15 pm. The owner of the vehicle, along with his family, was en route to Panjim for a vacation when the van suddenly caught fire, prompting a terrifying ordeal for the passengers.

While the cause of the ignition remains unknown, firefighters suspect a short circuit may have been responsible. The vehicle owner wasted no time and immediately contacted the Porvorim Fire Department and ambulance services.

The quick arrival of the Porvorim fire department and ambulance ensured that the situation was promptly addressed, with the fire being successfully extinguished. 

Under the leadership of Lt. Sandeep R. Naik, the Fire duty crew, including Eprimo Dais, Gauresh S Naik, Rohan N. Naik, Sachin S. Gaokar, Mahesh N. Korgaonkar, Neetesh B. Malik, played a pivotal role in swiftly addressing the situation, preventing further damage.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing. Though significant vehicular damage was incurred, fortunately no causalities were reported.
