A major accident took place at Tari Bridge in Mapusa wherein a four-wheeler lost control of the vehicle and veered off the bridge on Friday morning. Fortunately, the four-wheeler did not plunge into the river and the driver sustained injuries to his legs. Despite repeated calls from the locals present at the site, the police, fire department and the ambulance failed to respond.
On Friday early morning around 6 – 6.30 am, a four-wheeler car met with a self-accident at Mapusa Tari Bridge. Vehicles like a bus and a truck were parked on the bridge despite being a no-parking area. At the crack of dawn, the thick fog covered the entire highway area which made people travelling unable to see. As per the driver, in order to avoid collision with the parker vehicles, the driver lost control and veered off the bridge. The driver was identified as Kailas Kumawat a Rajasthan native.
Fortunately, the four-wheeler did not plunge into the river; otherwise, the accident could have ended in a fatality. The driver’s leg was stuck due to the impact. His legs were jammed and as a result, he was unable to move or free himself.
Upon noticing the accident, the passersby tried contacting the emergency services but none of them responded. Even the police were unreachable. The help arrived after 2-3 hours of the said incident. The driver who was stuck in the car was pulled out by the fire and emergency department in an injured condition. He was later taken to GMC Hospital for medical care.
