Fr Almeida to be interred at Pilar today

PANJIM: The mortal remains of Fr Inacio Almeida, also known as an agriculturist who died after a brief illness on Wednesday, will be interred at Pilar on Friday.

PANJIM: The mortal remains of Fr Inacio Almeida, also known as an agriculturist who died after a brief illness on Wednesday, will be interred at Pilar on Friday.
Fr Almeida who pioneered the much-publicised jatropha cultivation for generating fuel at the Pilar Farm and the drought resistant rice during his later years at the Pilar priests farm in Bironda in Valpoi was 70. Right till his last days he was seen in the fields at Valpoi.
Fr Almeida who used to conduct sessions on agriculture for school children and youth, always kept himself updated and was even promoting the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) farming, which was recently introduced in the state.
The funeral Mass is scheduled at 3:30 pm at Pilar.
