Speaking to reporters in Vasco on Friday, Fr Eremito Rebello said that truth is like fire it cannot be hidden under dry leaves. “We are surprised merely because the same Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar had earlier claimed that the land allotted to the organizers for DefExpo and Aero India show in Quittol (Betul) would be for a temporary period. However, the papers tabled on the floor of the House on Thursday exposed them all. They were lying and thus they cannot hide the fact that they cheated the people of Goa by already passing a resolution to give the land in Quittol (Betul) on permanent basis to host the two mega events but continued to give wrong assurances to the people,” he said.
Commenting on the issue of Special status, Rebello claimed that “In the name of special status, this government is again fooling the people. When bigwigs from BJP including the Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself had promised to the people of Goa before he Lok Sabha election that he would grant special status to Goa, then what suddenly happened due to which they cannot grant special status.”
“It is also a fact that even the State legislative assembly had passed a resolution in 2013 that Goa needs special status and the government would pursue this issue with Centre. However, after Modi came to power they omitted this issue from its priority list which confirms that BJP makes all false promises only to come to power,” he added.
NCP President Jose Philip D’Souza said, “I feel that the State BJP government should be awarded with Guinness World Records for lying maximum number of time. Whatever they had promised before assembly polls remained unfulfilled and thus they have now started hiding facts from the Goans by lying on the crucial issue of Def Expo.”
