VASCO: Majority of the BJP backed candidates especially the new faces emerged victorious in the Mormugao municipal election giving a shockwave to many who were expecting their in civic polls.
In ward 1 Manjusha Pilanakar (BJP) won by getting a total of 666 votes while her nearest rival Bhavana Bhosle managed just 417. In ward 2 Dayanad Naik (BJP) won the seat by getting 915 votes defeating Shekhar Khadapkar who managed 654 votes . In ward 3 Krunali Mandrekar (BJP) got 1016 votes defeating her nearest rival Ashwini Honawarkar who got 700 votes.
In ward 4, Damodar Kaskar (BJP) won by getting 662 defeating Uday Naik While in ward 5, Damodar Naik (BJP) won by getting 1073 votes against Nilesh Nalvelkar. In ward 6 Prajay Mayekar(BJP) got 1117 votes and defeated Vinni Bhagat. In ward no 7 Ramchandra Kamat (BJP) got 592 votes who defeated Sharad Chopdekar, while in ward 8, Congress backed candidate Shraddha Amonkar won by a comfortable margin of 267 votes who got 703 votes defeating Murari Bandekar (BJP).
In ward 9 , Yogita Parsekar polled 1008 while Tanuja Sawant managed 793 votes. In ward 10 Kalaiyarasi Swami polled 912 votes defeating her nearest rival Snehal Naik. Further in Ward 11,Narayan Borkar (BJP) got 678 edged out Sebastiano D’Souza while in ward 12 Deepak Naik(BJP) won by getting 799 defeating Prashant Naik. In ward 13, Shami Salkar won by getting 1482 votes defeating Shalaka Kambli(BJP). In ward 14, Matias (Moti)(BJP) Monteiro won by getting 497 votes defeating his rival Lavina Desouza.
Further in ward 15, Priya Raut (BJP-backed) got 984 votes that defeated Fiola Rego while in ward 16 Girish Borkar won by getting 842 votes defeated Manesh Arolkar.
In ward 17 Frederick Henriques (BJP) got 901 votes defeating Madar Parshuram. In ward 18 Ameya Chopdekar(BJP) got 597 votes and won by defeating Vishal Naik. Devita Arolkar(BJP) got 875 votes defeating Pooja Naik .
In Ward 20 , Yatin Kamurlekar(BJP) got 653 votes and won by 300 votes from Sainath Amonkar. Likewise in ward 21 Shradha Mahale (BJP) got 879 votes and defeated Sabina Sayed. In ward 22 Sudesh Bhosle (BJP) won by getting 1186 votes that defeated his nearest rival Shivlingkar Rupesh Suresh who managed 548 votes.
While in ward 23 Vinod Kinlekar (BJP) won by getting 924 votes defeating Premanand Nanoskar. In ward 24 Catarina Xavier (BJP) the eldest candidate of 78 year old won by getting 1281 votes defeating Anisha Noronha . While in ward 25, Leo Rodrigues emerged victorious by getting 543 votes defeating Gracious Coutinho (BJP).
