A fresh turn has emerged in the ongoing investigation into the alleged assault of Goan activist Rama Kankonkar. The Goa Police have filed a new application before the Special Court in Merces, asking for additional time to complete the probe. Investigating officials stated that they now need to verify Kankonkar’s caste certificate as part of the process. Police are also awaiting forensic reports and the retrieval of phone data belonging to key accused Zenito Cardozo, which has yet to be obtained.
