PANJIM: From May 10, tourists wanting to come to Goa, will have to produce COVID negative certificate, obtained within 72 hours of travel or full vaccination certificate, for entering the State.

The District Collector in an order issued on Sunday, however has exempted Goans or those coming to State for work purpose or medical emergency, after producing identity proof.
The Collector North Ajit Roy said that the High Court in Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has directed State government to ensure that no persons are permitted entry into the state unless they possess a negative certificate obtained within 72 hours from the time they seek entry into the state.
“An order under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code has been issued wherein inter-State movement for tourists from May 10 onwards has been prohibited except for people who are residents of Goa or are entering Goa for work, or who have with them the full vaccination certificate or Covid negative test report for a test done within 72 hours of entry in Goa,” Roy said.
He said accordingly, the persons coming to Goa would be checked for the mandatory certificate.
The residents of Goa, on production of proof of residence will be allowed to enter.
Similarly, persons entering in Goa for work, on production of work ID proof or letter from employer, and Persons entering in Goa for a medical emergency, on production of proof or coming in ambulance will be exempted from the certification process.
