MAPUSA: The Calangute Police on Tuesday seized narcotic substance suspected to be ganja worth Rs one lakh in two separate narcotic raids.

According to information obtained from Police Inspector Nolasco Raposo, in first raid, a taxi driver Devesh Jairam Shirodkar, aged 30 years and resident of Simwaddo, Anjuna was apprehended early Tuesday morning for allegedly possession 207 grams narcotic substance suspected to be ganja worth Rs 20, 700, which was found in the white Wagon R Car, driven by him.
In the second case, Akhilesh Kumar, aged 25 years and a native of Uttar Pradesh was apprehended in the early morning at Calangute for illegally possessing 865 grams of narcotic substance suspected to be ganja worth Rs 86,500, which was found in a Dio Scooter, rode by him.
Both the alleged accused persons were produced before the local court. The court remanded the duo to 14 days judicial custody.
