Swapnesh Sherlekar, president of Goencho Avaaz Party  said, ‘’Today the lies of Pramod Sawant stand exposed with PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar now forced to admit that there is an acute shortage of water in Goa and that people’s demand for water isn’t being met thus proving that the BJP has truly earned their sobriquet of ‘jumla party’. Yet CM Sawant is now brazenly promising 16,000 liters of free water to every household without even bothering to address the acute and chronic water shortage problems faced by Bardez,  Pernem, Bicholim  and a host of other villages.”

Govt was asked to put together a plan and make public aware, how they intend to rectify the constant breach in the Tillari canal, which is causing hardship to the people of North Goa, he mentioned. “It is absolutely unacceptable that people be made to endure this suffering any longer. If the government is incapable of resolving the issue then they should invite members of the opposition who may be more capable of bringing respite to the people. This is one more issue on which the BJP government of Goa has failed its people,” said Sherlekar.

Capt. Viriato Fernandes, convenor of the party stated that no other previous govt has ever forced so many different groups of people to come out on the streets to protest for their basic rights.
