MARGAO: The General Council of Ravindra bhavan, Margao has called for autonomy to the institution and has decided to pursue with the government construction of a new hall and an auditorium within the complex.
After the meeting, Ravindra bhavan Chairman Damu Naik told the media that repairs and renovation of the Ravindra bhavan complex are stuck up on account of delays by the Public Works department. “Nothing is moving in the Ravindra bhavan as regards to repairs and renovations. Whatever that was proposed by the General Council to the government has not been attended to by the PWD,” Damu said, adding that Ravindra bhavan would not object if the repairs and renovation works are handed over to any other government agency, including the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation.
Sources said most of the repair works, including the pavers, proposed by the General Council headed by Damu, have not been executed till date.
Meanwhile, Damu said the General Council would do the follow up with the government the proposal of construction of a hall and a 250-seater capacity auditorium within the Ravindra bhavan complex to meet the requirements of all sections of society. “We would like the government to take up these two projects on a priority basis to meet the growing requirements,” he added.
