PANJIM: Stressing that illegal businesses run by foreigners along the coastal belt is not only a threat to Goa but for the entire country, GneNext has appealed all the 40 MLAs to raise the issue in the winter session of State legislative assembly that commences on Monday.
GenNext has already filed a PIL in the High Court of Bombay at Goa against foreigners running illegal business on agricultural lands in Goa.
Addressing the media, GenNext President Durgadas Kamat alleged that foreigners are running the illegal business in connivance with the politicians, police and government officials on orchard or agricultural properties. This, he said, is a serious threat not only to Goa but also to India.
“We don’t know what type of business is run illegally in the name of clubs and restaurants along the coastal belt. This is a clear cut case of violation of RBI Guidelines,” Kamat said adding, “it is very disheartening to see Goan businessmen losing out to the illegal businesses run by foreigners.”
Kamat also accused the police of not taking the action against drug peddlers who are openly selling drugs at the night markets, which, he said, was recorded by the GneNext and sent to the police a month ago.
