PANJIM: With the opening of Goa Forward Party (GFP) leader Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate’s office in St Cruz constituency, the regional party led by TCP minister Vijai Sardesai is now eyeing to grab majority seats in Tiswadi taluka.
“We want to capture Tiswadi taluka. In the next assembly election, we will be a force in Tiswadi. We have a good strike rate because GFP won three out of four seats contested in the 2017 assembly polls,” he told a press conference after inaugurating the St Cruz office on Sunday.
“GFP is taking along all the communities and all age people those who want to have golden Goa and we are their voice in the government.”
When questioned, he refused to name the constituencies the party was eyeing probably to avoid naming Panjim, which is represented by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
The minister, to another question claimed that their commitment with CM Parrikar remains for next five year’s.
The GFP came to play an important role in Goa’s political landscape when the State witnessed a fractured mandate in the 2017 assembly elections held in February.
After joining hands with the BJP, to help stake claim to form government – which also had alliance from MGP and Independents – its three elected members were given cabinet berth.
