MARGAO: Goa Forward Party President and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai stressed the need to establish a COVID command centre in Margao given the fact that the number of cases and deaths are increasing with every passing day.
He said very often the patient is brought dead to the hospital as the family members wasted a lot of time searching for a hospital where the patient could be admitted and said this should not happen in a developed State like Goa.

He said the COVID Command Centre will have all information like how many beds are available in which hospital, how many ventilators or oxygen cylinders are available for patients in which hospital and said availability of this information will enable the family to take patient faster to the hospital.
Vijai said he will discuss this proposal with Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and said councillors will have to be a part of this programme to keep people informed about the necessary details.
He cautioned about the pandemic situation given the fact that the number of cases and deaths have increased so alarmingly even though the peak of the second wave of the pandemic is supposed to be on May 15.
He pointed out that now doctors and nurses attending to COVID patients are testing positive for the virus and said PPE kits have to be provided to the frontline warriors.
