PANJIM: Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim marked a milestone with the birth of the first baby under the Goa government’s free IVF treatment programme.

The baby girl was delivered via caesarean section. Goa is among the few States in the country to offer free in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment for couples, a procedure that can typically cost up to Rs 3 lakh per cycle. The initiative aims to make fertility care accessible to eligible families in the State.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane informed that the Health Department has installed Digital Neuropathy Screeners and Digital Stethoscopes across Goa to enable early detection of diabetes, heart, and lung diseases. AI-powered X-rays are operational at 11 healthcare centres to accelerate lung cancer detection, he added. State-of-the-art Molecular Lab and an additional Cath Lab at GMC Hospital are enhancing our capacity to diagnose complex conditions and perform advanced cardiac procedures with precision, he said.
