In a significant welfare move, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant announced on Tuesday that municipal workers granted temporary status will now be entitled to comprehensive benefits, including six months of maternity leave and 30 days of medical leave—facilities many of them had never received before.
Addressing the media, CM Sawant emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the conditions of municipal employees across Goa. “These benefits mark a substantial step forward in recognizing the hard work of our municipal workforce,” he said.

The Chief Minister also declared that municipal workers who have served for over 20 years will see their pay scale doubled, bringing long-overdue financial relief and recognition to veteran staff.
“These decisions reflect our intention to treat municipal workers with the dignity and rights they deserve,” CM Sawant stated, adding that the reforms aim to boost morale and ensure fair compensation for years of dedicated public service.
