PONDA: In a bid to increase sale of processed milk, Goa Dairy, Curti-Ponda, as part of its marketing strategy has identified various rural areas in the State along with adjoining areas in Karnataka and Maharashtra.
The Goa Dairy on Tuesday started supplying milk to the remote areas of Canacona taluka. According to Goa Dairy Managing Director Dr N Sawant, the idea was to make milk available in State’s remote areas and to increase the milk sale. “Earlier, milk was available only in selected areas and now we will supply milk in the remote areas of the State,” informed Dr Sawant.
Dr Sawant said remote areas in the rest of the talukas have been identified and a survey will be conducted before finalising the distribution network.
Goa Dairy has also eyed adjoining areas of Maharashtra and Karnataka to increase its milk sale.
“The Dairy recently this year marketed milk in Karwar where about 600 litres of processed milk is being sold daily. We will soon start milk supply in Dodamarg and later in Sawantwadi-Maharashtra,” informed Dr Sawant.
According to information, Goa Dairy on an average sells about 73,500 litres of processed milk per day.
“The capacity of the Dairy’s milk processing plant is about 1.25 lakh litres per day and there are plans to fully utilise the plant capacity in near future. During Eid, the Dairy expect milk sales to touch 1 lakh litre mark,” informed Dr Sawant.
