Goa Expanding Beyond Beach Tourism with Focus on Heritage, Eco and Wellness Experiences: CM

Panaji, Goa: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has said that the Goa government is broadening the state’s tourism landscape by promoting heritage, spiritual, eco, wellness and hinterland tourism to offer visitors a more diverse and enriching experience.

The Chief Minister said the initiative aims to move beyond Goa’s traditional beach-centric image and position the state as a comprehensive tourism destination catering to a wide range of interests and travel preferences.

According to Dr. Sawant, the government’s strategy is focused on showcasing Goa’s rich cultural heritage, religious sites, natural landscapes and rural hinterland, while encouraging sustainable and responsible tourism practices.

He further stated that the government is also investing in the development of skilled human resources to meet the evolving demands of the tourism industry. Strengthening workforce capabilities, he said, will play a crucial role in supporting the sector’s long-term and sustainable growth.

The Chief Minister emphasised that by diversifying its tourism offerings and enhancing skill development, Goa aims to reinforce its position as one of the country’s leading tourism destinations while creating new economic opportunities for local communities.
