Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday announced that the Goa government has finalised a ₹2-crore airline incentive scheme for one year to attract more flights and strengthen air connectivity to the state.
Under the scheme, airlines introducing additional flights or new routes to Goa will receive an incentive of around ₹2 lakh per flight, including for new connecting routes. The initiative is aimed at boosting both domestic and international traffic and enhancing Goa’s position as a major aviation and tourism hub.
Speaking in the Goa Legislative Assembly, Sawant said the incentive scheme will be applicable to operations at both Dabolim Airport and Manohar International Airport (Mopa). He also categorically assured that Dabolim airport will not be shut down, addressing concerns raised by members over its future.
“The government is committed to improving air connectivity while ensuring that both airports continue to function and grow,” the Chief Minister said, adding that the policy will help bring in more airlines and destinations to Goa.
The announcement is expected to give a major push to the state’s tourism and business sectors, which rely heavily on strong and affordable air links.
