The Tourism Department has decided to extend permissions for 23 shacks that were earlier flagged for subletting, an act barred under current rules. Cancellation proceedings had been initiated, but following appeals from the Shack Owners’ Association and local MLAs, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte announced that the Goan shack owners will be granted another opportunity to renew permissions upon payment of fees and completion of procedures.
