Amid the ongoing Acute Diarrhoeal Disease (ADD) situation in Dabolim, Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has stated that swift and coordinated measures have been initiated to contain the outbreak and safeguard public health.
According to the minister, multiple agencies—including the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Chicalim Sub-District Hospital (SDH), and Cortalim Primary Health Centre (PHC)—are working in close coordination with the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) and the Public Works Department (PWD).
Authorities have launched extensive house-to-house surveillance in affected areas, alongside detailed inspections of water sources and surrounding localities. Awareness drives are also being conducted, urging residents to take precautions such as consuming boiled water.
Rane further stated that all affected individuals are under close medical supervision, with timely treatment and guidance being provided by health teams. Continuous monitoring of the situation has been put in place to prevent further spread.
Looking ahead, officials will continue active case detection with prompt referrals where necessary. ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) is being made readily available, while comprehensive testing of water sources and stool sample analysis is underway.
The minister emphasised that sustained awareness campaigns and strong inter-departmental coordination will guide ongoing efforts, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens.
