PANJIM: Goa is likely to experience heavy rainfall activities for a week from Sunday, as a result of possible formation of a low pressure area over North Bay of Bengal by August 4.
Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa observatory said as the increased activity is very likely to continue for four or more days, special attention may be required for areas which are vulnerable for weather related disasters.

IMD has warned of heavy rainfall till August 6. Fishermen are also advised against venturing into sea during the period due to rough sea conditions.
State has been receiving heavy showers since Saturday, with total rainfall being recorded around two inches.
The weather system which are likely to enhance rainfall activity over Goa are a shear-zone along 17 degreeNorth latitude at a height between 3.1kms to 7.6kms above mean sea level and also strengthening of westerly winds at 1.5km and 3.1km above mean sea level.
IMD said very heavy rainfall, exceeding 20.5cm in the next 24 hours is likely hit the State from August 3 accompanied with winds of speed 30-40kmph.
Since June 1, till date, State has recorded almost 95.29 inches of rains, which is 15 percent surplus to the average rainfall of 82.86 inches during the period.
