PANJIM: As rains continue to lash the State, Fire and Emergency Services personnel have been on their toes attending to calls of uprooting of trees and damages to structures. On Tuesday, the department’s control room received 24 calls of branches falling and uprooting of trees across the State.
“Not a single vehicle is here (at department’s head office). All are out on rescue work,” an official said. Even as the official was informing Herald of this, the control room received another call of a tree falling in the compound of a property in Panjim.
“Our personnel are clearing areas including the roads where debris of dead trees is fallen,” he said.
Besides tree falls, an old house at Taleigao was damaged owing to heavy rains, however, F&ES personnel had not received any such call.
There were no casualties reported in any incident till late Tuesday evening.
