PANJIM: After the iron ore business, the Goa government is now looking at China as an attractive investor in the Information and Technology (IT) sector.
China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived on Friday to oversee preparations of the upcoming BRICS summit scheduled in October this year. On his arrival, Yi met Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar at State Secretariat where both leaders discussed preparations for the summit over a breakfast meeting.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Parsekar said, “Goa and China have long standing relations with iron ore from the coastal State being exported to them. We can also tie up with China in the field of education and technology. We can attract investment from China in Information Technology.”
Emerging from the meeting, Yi said Goa would be on a much higher pedestal after hosting the summit. “I have come here because BRICS summit is being held in Goa. I have seen friendly sentiments from the people of Goa,” he said.
“Goa has a beautiful landscape, beaches and people. Goa is one of the best in the world. I am sure BRICS summit will put Goa at a higher pedestal,” he added.
During his day long tour, Yi is expected to meet State Governor Mridula Sinha and will also visit Aguada plateau. He is also expected to visit five star hotels where the summit will be held.
