Goa police and GEC sign MoU for cyber security

PANJIM: A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Goa College of Engineering and the Goa Police with an objective to strengthen the law enforcement and cyber security in the State. 

The MoU was signed in the presence of the Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh, IPS, Principal GEC Dr R B Lohani, SP North Nidhin Valsan IPS, and HOD IT & GEC Dr Nilesh B Fal Dessai.

The main objective of this MoU is to enhance R&D and training activities as well as to strengthen law enforcement and cyber security in the State. The DGP Singh said, “This MoU has been signed to exploring possibilities to share technical expertise of GEC. Goa Police is privileged to sign the MoU as it is important in contemporary times.” 

“Not just police, it will help all the other departments. ‘N’ number of areas are being added into the ever increasing domain of cyber crime and it is only going to increase with the introduction of 5G and IT advancements such as on voice and face recognition,” said DGP Singh.
