Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has emphasized that improving connectivity to Goa should take precedence over implementing a Visa-on-Arrival policy, as the state looks to boost tourism during the monsoon season.
Speaking ahead of World Tourism Day, Khaunte announced that this year’s celebrations will be expanded into a month-long series of events across Goa. The initiative aims to enhance the vibrancy of the monsoon season and attract more domestic and international tourists.

“Instead of focusing solely on Visa-on-Arrival, we must first strengthen our air and road connectivity to ensure seamless travel for visitors,” Khaunte stated. He added that improved infrastructure and accessibility will have a more immediate and sustainable impact on tourism growth.
The extended World Tourism Day celebrations will include cultural programs, local experiences, wellness tourism, and eco-tourism initiatives, showcasing Goa’s diverse offerings beyond its beaches and nightlife.
