Goa University Suspends Canteen Contractor After Worms Found in Food

Goa University has suspended the contractor operating its main canteen after worms were reportedly found in food served to students, triggering concerns over food quality and hygiene on campus.

The university has also announced that hostel students will not be required to pay mess fees until a new caterer takes charge, with a replacement expected to begin operations on July 13.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) gheraoed the University Registrar, alleging unhygienic conditions in the mess and canteen. The organisation demanded immediate corrective measures, regular inspections and stricter monitoring to ensure students are provided with safe, hygienic and quality meals in the future.
