Marking State Consumer Rights Day, members of the Goa Consumer Action Network (GOACAN) conducted a consumer awareness programme at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, on Thursday to educate the public about consumer rights and protections.
The initiative focused on informing citizens about their rights and responsibilities as consumers, as well as the various grievance redressal mechanisms available to address consumer complaints and disputes.
During the programme, GOACAN representatives highlighted the importance of consumer awareness in ensuring fair trade practices and protecting individuals from fraudulent or misleading business practices. Participants were encouraged to stay informed and exercise their rights when purchasing goods and services.
Organisers announced that the awareness drive will continue for the next 100 days, with programmes planned at various locations across Goa. The campaign aims to reach a wider audience and strengthen consumer protection by spreading awareness about consumer laws, rights and available support systems.
The initiative forms part of GOACAN’s ongoing efforts to empower consumers and promote informed decision-making among the public throughout the state.
