All Goa Government Employees Association today declared that they will go ahead with their indefinite strike from September 22 if their demands of upgradation of pay scales are not met by the Government.
Addressing a press conference GGEA President M L Shetkar, who was accompanied by Secretary John Nazareth, said if a notification announcing parity in pay scales is not issued by tomorrow, they would proceed on an indefinite strike from September 22.
Making a case against selective upgradation adopted by the Government, the GGEA had met Chief Minister Digambar Kamat earlier, Shetkar said.
The Government had then sought a month’s time to settle the issue, he said but there was no feedback.
Moreover, GGEA also postponed its strike till August 31, 2010 on the request of the Government at the last minute, he said.
The GGEA has already met chief minister and chief secretary reiterating its demand to issue the order of upgradation.
It alleged the selective upgradation has created a divide amongst the employees and the Government has compelled the employees to go on strike by delaying a settlement.
“In the event of any inconvenience caused to the public, the State Government will be solely responsible”, warned the GGEA president.
