PANJIM: The government on Thursday notified the extended ban on Sri Ram Sene Founder and chief Pramod Muthalik’s entry into Goa by another two months. The ban imposed by South District Collector on November 17, 2019 is based on police report apprehending disturbance of communal peace in view of his visit to Goa.
“It has been reported by the Superintendent of Police, South Goa dated November 11, 2019 stating that fear of disturbance of the communal peace and harmony in the State is not ruled out in case of entry of Pramod Muthalik and his member associates in the South Goa district. It is apprehended that his communal speeches will promote enmity among various religious communities and will be prejudicial to maintenance of harmony, public peace and safety,” South Collector Ajit Roy said while imposing 60 days ban on Muthalik and his associates.
The notification released by the Home Department further states, “On going through the report of Superintendent of Police, South Goa and having examined the facts and circumstance brought out in the report, I am satisfied that there are sufficient grounds for proceeding under Section 144 of CrPC, 1973 to prohibit members of “Sri Ram Sene” and its leader Pramod Muthalik from entering into jurisdiction of South Goa District and making aggressive statement and comments which could hurt the communal feeling of groups and lead to violence and in turn result into serious law and order problems.”
