PANJIM: The State government has finally handed over the ownership right of the Panjim city municipal market to Corporation of The City of Panjim (CCP), paving way for signing of leave and licence agreement with the legal occupants of the market.

The Dean of Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), in whose possession the land was, handed over area admeasuring 5,178 sq mtrs to the Department of Urban Development on November 27.
The department in turn further transferred the land in the name of CCP, on Monday. The State Cabinet had in December, 2018 resolved to hand over the land to the CCP.
When contacted, Mayor Uday Madkaikar said that the land is now handed over to the CCP by the Health Department.
He said that in absence of ownership right, the Corporation was not in position to sign the Leave and Licence agreement with the legal occupants of the market.
“Since, the land is now handed over to us, we will immediately start the agreement signing process with those occupants whose names are listed by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation,” he said.
