MARGAO: Government offices in Margao opened on Monday but most of the people reached the offices with queries rather than actual work.

The Road Transport Office (Enforcement) had to paste a notice stating extension of the validity of various licences, documents, permits etc which were expiring within the lockdown period.

The Administration of Margao Municipal Council had to send back several people who had made a beeline at the office for various certificates and payments of dues.

Margao Municipal Council Chairperson Pooja Naik held a meeting to review of the pending works besides the various works allotted to the Administration. The Chairperson said, “Only emergency works will be attended to. We request the people not to create a crowd at MMC for miscellaneous works,” she said.

The MMC also circulated a notice for self-employed persons such as masons, carpenters, plumbers and others and also to start construction works wherein they have given email IDs on which an applicant who wants to start work will have to take permission before doing so.

The Chairperson also said that they are accepting House Tax through online payment and have extended the deadline for the same by another month.

She also said that they will be holding a Standing Committee meeting which will decide on the Budget meeting.
