Govt scheme to help Goan youth own taxi sans investment

VASCO: The government will launch a `Young Transport Entrepreneur Scheme’ to help unemployed Goan youth to own taxis without any investment.

Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho said that the GoaMiles app-based taxi aggregator will help the youth in taking a loan without even putting down a margin sum, to buy their own taxis. However, the taxi must be engaged with GoaMiles and the loan installments will be deducted from their earnings made from operating the taxi.

The youth do not need a taxi badge or even a driving licence, but can operate their taxi with a driver, like an entrepreneur, said Godinho.
