PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that government will approve the construction of the multipurpose stadium for cricket, football and other activities within the Goa Engineering College (GEC) campus at Farmagudi for students and locals, with an entry point from outside the campus.
While announcing this in the House, Parrikar clarified that GEC campus cannot be exposed to outsiders so the government has recently approved construction of a by-pass from Farmagudi-Veling, connecting to the college campus.
“Once we complete this project, we would take up the work on the multi-purpose stadium, which will have its entry point outside the campus, making it accessible to locals,” he said.
He was replying to the private members resolution moved by Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar to construct a multipurpose stadium for cricket and football, a swimming pool and open auditorium at Goa Engineering College Campus, which would help student community and locals.
The resolution was withdrawn following assurance from Chief Minister.
