PANJIM: Demanding a complete ban on cattle slaughter in Goa, Govansh Raksha Abhiyan (GRA) has asked the government to release funds to NGOs associated with animal welfare.
Addressing a press conference GRA president Hanumant Parab said that there is a budgetary provision for animal welfare which needs to be released by the government. He said that there should be a complete ban on cattle slaughter in Goa just as in Maharashtra and that GRA will submit a memorandum on this to the chief minister.
GRA also demanded the establishment of a separate ministry to deal with cows and the status of ‘rashtramata’ to the cow.
Parab said that on June 20, there will be a rally in Panjim putting these demands before the government and at the convention at Tapobhumi Kundai from June 17 to 19.
