PORVORIM: Minister for Art & Culture Dayanand Mandrekar said that there is a need of giving grace marks for the students who are participating in the cultural programmes during the academic year on par with the students who enjoy the grace marks in sports activities.
“It is a good suggestion made by the MLAs and we can consider it,” Mandrekar replied on the floor of the house on a demand made by the MLAs.
He said that the results of this year are appreciating and fair credit should also to be given to the grace marks which students have enjoyed through sports participation during the academic year.
Speaking further the minister said that the world class museum at the Old Secretariat in Panjim will be completed by 2017.
“The pending work is with the GSIDC. If they fail to start within the time frame then we will cancel it and the department will take up the work and see that it will be completed by 2017,” the minister told the house.
Two Ravindra bhavans at Mapusa and Pernem are pending due to the lack of land availability, the minister informed the house. He said that Mapusa land acquisition file is with the TCP and urged the TCP Minister, who is the Mapusa MLA, to look into the matter.
For Pernem Ravindra Bhavan there is requirement of 20,000 sq mtrs which should be taken from the Goa Housing Board Corporation, the minister said.
