PANJIM: From January 2014, maintenance of the Goa Medical College and hospital complex would be entrusted to the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation.
PWD has been taking care of repair and maintenance work of the complex, since it was shifted to Bambolim in 1991.
But, since now most of the infrastructural developmental works and the equipment purchases are been handed over to GSIDC, government decided to appoint it as the nodal agency for maintenance of the complex, Director GMC (adm) Swapnil Naik said.
The maintenance of the hospital quarters would however remain with PWD, he said adding ‘by December 31, all the work would be handed over to GSIDC except maintenance of the quarters’. Along with GMC, the GSIDC will also look after the Dental College and Institute of Psychiatry & Human Behavior (IPHB).
The decision was taken during recent meeting between Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who had visited GMC earlier this week to take stock of all the new developmental works.
