VASCO: Following public outcry over the noisy late night and early morning construction activity at Goa Shipyard limited (GSL) due to which the residents living in the neighbourhood had complained of facing severe hardships and sleepless night, the GSL authorities readjusted their timings and have now stopped all such construction activity after 10 pm.
It may be recalled that recently the residents along with MMC ward councillor Nandadeep Raut had threatened to hit the streets if GSL continues with construction activities during the night.
“On our part we have been taking every precaution to see that we do not put anyone into inconvenience. At one point of time there was issue of congestion in front of GSL main gate was raised. So, we spent almost Rs 3 crore for the construction of another road which is via Kadamba bus stand. Similarly, here when the locals raised the issue of high noise pollution during night due to our construction work, we have adjusted our working timing and have stopped working during night time ,” GSL CMD Shekhar Mittal told reporters on Thursday.
