MAPUSA: Hundreds of youth from Mapusa on Thursday held a candle light march and protested against the increasing rape incidents in the country. Prominent persons from Mapusa also participated in the march.
The protesters demanded justice to the rape victims by imposing stringent punishment on the perpetrators.
Candle light march started off from Khorlim, passed through the streets of Mapusa and concluded at Hutatma Chawk.
Appealing to the youth not to forward and share photos of rape victims on social media, Councillor Tushar Tople said, “Forwarding photos on social media revels the identity of the rape victim.”
Tople urged the youth not to stop with candle light march, but to fight till the perpetrators are punished.
