PANJIM: Even as there are concerns whether starting a full-fledged department of Master of Arts (MA) in Centre for Women Studies (CWS) will be able to attract enough students in the long run, Goa University (GU) in most probability will launch the post graduate studies under the aegis of University Grants Commission (UGC) from the next academic year.
“We are concerned whether this will be a sustainable one. But for CWS courses there will be students from other disciplines,” GU Vice Chancellor Dr Satish Shetye told Herald.
Since UGC will fund the Centre for Women’s Studies for a period of five years, the State government has been approached to bear the cost post-2017. The government’s decision will most likely depend on the interest among students.
