MARGAO: The Maina-Curtorim Police arrested one Nilesh Vernekar following a firing incident that occurred late Wednesday night at Ralloi in Curtorim, creating panic amongst the people there.
While Nilesh is currently being interrogated, police are also on the lookout for two other persons who had reportedly accompanied Nilesh, when the incident occurred.
According to the police, Nilesh, who is the owner of a security agency, parked his car near the house of 35-year-old Carmina Fernandes at around 11 pm and three gun shots were fired from the car at her house following, which the car sped off from the scene.
PSI Prashant Bhagat has registered an offence under Section 336 (endangering human life) of the IPC along with Sections 3, 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
It is suspected that the firing took place due to some property dispute. A window pane of Fernandes’ house was damaged due to the firing.
