Sinha also saw the latest aircraft acquired by the navy to keep a strict watch on activities at sea.
The officers commanding the latest aircraft which is acquired by Navy from US explained that the aircraft can monitor activities at sea including that of a submarine and can locate a ship or a submarine at a distance of about 200 nautical miles at sea.
Speaking to media, Sinha said it was her ever first visit to a naval base. “I had earlier heard and read about the navy, but today I have personally witnessed and has come to know how the navy safeguards our country from the enemies,” said Sinha.
“It is a new chapter in my life and I have come to know how the navy and pilots by putting their lives at risk protect the nation and its citizens. Over a period of time India has moved on and the navy is doing commendable job,” Sinha added.
The Governor also reviewed various welfare measures set up by the Navy Wives Welfare Association for the community and various initiatives to improve the welfare of service and civilian personnel posted at Goa.
The Governor also visited the facilities set for differently abled children and the Balpathshala for children by Goa naval area.
A naval official informed the media that the governor’s visit was in keeping in view the forth coming Navy week celebration, where the governor will be the chief guest.
The official added that the maritime aircraft are kept on display for her to know the operational and welfare activities of the navy.
